ABOUT ME

My name is Sierra Eilers and I'm the artist behind Arreis Designs. My interest in art started early, I’ve always enjoyed any type of craft project and love working with my hands. I feel grateful to have grown up in an area with an incredibly supportive community that has an affinity for local handmade goods. Being exposed to this mindset early on planted the seed that I later cultivated when I moved to Montana to attend school in Bozeman in 2010. Upon graduating in 2014 with a BFA in Fine Arts, I moved back home to Vermont to be closer to my family and the place that I feel such a strong connection to. Since then, I’ve begun to split my time between VT and Martha’s Vineyard, another great art hub. I feel lucky everyday to spend my time creating and doing the things that I love.

ABOUT MY WORK

My work is the embodiment of my childhood in Vermont and a testament to the prized possession of jewelry. The Northeast landscape where I was raised informs my color palette of blue and green stones, as well as my line-centric designs. Both the rivers and the mountains of Vermont create a vast variety of topography, these geographical formations weave throughout my home and I’ve taken what I’ve found to be the most inspiring aspects of these landscapes and have incorporated them into my work.

From a young age, I was aware that my mother’s jewelry had an incredible amount of sentimental value to her. Because of that, it has always felt natural to me to emotionally invest myself in the jewelry I chose to wear, to allow myself to form an attachment with each piece and what it stood for. I believe that over time what we adorn ourselves with becomes a part of who we are and our self-identity, it joins us in our journey through life and becomes a reflection of the passing years.
